BlueGAP(Green-Action Platform) Residency | Summer 2024
This residency was a partnership between BlueGAP and the University of Iowa. The first 4-weeks prioritized learning about nitrogen pollution in Iowa and its effects on different communities across watersheds. The last 6-weeks of the residency focused on developing and executing a creative project. The goal of the creative project is to engage and educate people about nitrogen pollution and the various solutions.
Design Concept: I saw an opportunity to provide more foundational, engaging information about the basics of nitrogen pollution that could be presented on the BlueGAP website and social media. The infographics assist in visualizing the data to make the effects of nitrogen pollution more relevant and accessible for viewers to comprehend.
In making the animated infographics, I determined three main areas I wanted to focus on: recreation, fertilizer application and runoff, and soil erosion/health. I used Adobe Photoshop to create the layout of the information and imagery, as well as using the “Timeline” feature to create the animation.
